Mathew brings a results driven approach to his role as Claims Specialist. He believes that putting the policyholder firmly at the centre of the claims process allows him to better understand the client’s needs and ultimately produces more favourable outcomes.

With over 30 years’ experience in the London market, Mathew has worked for both international brokers and insurers during the course of his career. The last 25 years have been focused on working for London insurers, most recently a prominent Lloyds’ syndicate with a heavy focus on Australian policyholders.

Mathew has extensive experience in relation to professional indemnity, financial institutions and directors & officers’ lines. He has dealt with all manner of professional indemnity risks for insurers including construction PI, architects, engineers, accountants, solicitors and extensive financial institutions professional indemnity risks. The risks managed by Mathew were predominately across Europe, Middle / Far East and Australasia.

Mathew has been a recognised claims leader in the adjustment and handling of very high value / complex claims (individually in excess of AUD $2 billion) and led insurance Towers on behalf of various insurers. Mathew understands the processes and pitfalls in dealing with multi-layer / multi-year insurance Towers. Mathew has dealt with claims for large construction projects in Australia relating to gas power stations, desalination plants, coal mines and fertilizer manufacturers.

Mathew has extensive experience of how large and complex matters are received and dealt with when notifying insurers and uses this knowledge to expertly manage claims.

Upon joining Bellrock in 2022, Mathew aims to further develop his experience in Australian casualty lines sharing with clients his hands-on approach to the claims process. He believes that by fully involving the client in all stages of a claim, he is better placed to advocate on their behalf, ensuring client needs are anticipated and met at every turn.
